Paisley Pirates have added to their cup winning squad by announcing the signing of two up and coming youngsters for the coming SNL season.

“I’m absolutely delighted that Dean Hamilton and Euan McLaughlin have committed to the club for the forthcoming season,” he said. They’re both young, they are desperate to play for the Pirates, they’ve shown up well at training, and they’ve shown a willingness to take on board what I’ve been saying and learning from it, all the elements I think players need to become successful members of our squad. They’ve got a strong desire to succeed and make a difference, which every member of our squad requires to have.”

“I thought we’d lost our chance with Dean as it looked like he was continuing with his former club, but he asked me about coming to play for the Pirates. It’s a tough call to leave a team you’ve been playing for and tell them you want to go somewhere else, so I don’t have to worry about his desire to don a Pirates’ shirt. Dean actually started out with Paisley’s junior development system a few years back so I guess the lure of returning “home” was significant. Euan is coming to us as an outstanding young player who will learn good habits from the players around him. He’s an intelligent player who belies his tender years (he’s only 17), and both will fit into the regime I’m trying to create here by bringing in bright new talent and giving them their chance to play for a top side. We very much want to develop young talent and these signings, I hope, send out a very clear message about the direction we’re going in.”

“I think Pirates’ fans are going to be as excited as I am by the likes of Dean and Euan and other new young faces who will be coming into the side in the next few weeks. Both players are defenders and they’ll be playing with the likes of Mark Hassan, Chris Turley, and Martyn Guy so they’ll be learning and progressing with the very best. I can’t wait for the new season to get underway, and it’s only a few short weeks now until we open against Kilmarnock on 11 September at Braehead Arena.”
