Paisley Pirates fans have the chance to get together before the start of the new SNL ice hockey season, following the announcement by the Supporters Club that there will be a Race Night held in Priorscroft Bowling Club on Saturday, 30 September, the action commencing at 7.30pm.

“There will be all the usual features included for our opening fundraising event of the season,” explained club chairwoman Marie Cadenhead. “Supporters can buy horses, sponsor races, and generally enjoy all the fun of a night at the races. It’s important that fans turn out in numbers for these events, as the money raised is very important to the main club and helps keep the Pirates going. We’re hoping to give the team a big pre-season financial boost and set the Pirates on their way to another successful season.”

She went on, “Entry is £5 per adult with kids going for free, supporters can buy a horse in their name for £3, and they can sponsor a race with the name of their company or, indeed, any other name, for only £25. We’re also looking for prizes which can be presented to winning owners, as well as the usual prizes for the raffle. We do need to get an idea of numbers wanting to go, and, of course, we need to know of potential horse owners well before the night itself so that their names can be included in the event programme, so we’re asking folk to get in touch with me at cadenheadmarie1@gmail.com as soon as possible in order that we can put the whole thing together in ample time.”

“It’s an opportunity for supporters and, hopefully, players and management to get together before the main action gets under way in October, so we’re sure that after more than four months of a summer break it will all come together on Saturday, 30 September.”
