PaisleyPirates_RGB_sml_tm_70years

Paisley Pirates take a break from league action this weekend as they face local rivals North Ayrshire Wild in the first leg of their first round Scottish Cup tie at Braehead Arena on Sunday (face off 6.00pm).   Pirates Head Coach Ian Turley said, “It’s a game we’re very much looking forward to. In recent seasons our Scottish Cup form has improved. In the first four or five seasons after I came here we couldn’t get past the first round, whereas in the last two years we’ve been both winners and runners up, and we certainly prefer going the whole distance to losing early in the …

SOLWAY STINGRAYS   3       PAISLEY PIRATES   12     Pirates made it two wins from two in 2018 as they travelled to the Dumfries Ice Bowl on Sunday and rattled in twelve goals for the loss of only three.   The visitors began with Callum Donaghy getting a start between the pipes and they were first on the board as Crute opened his account early in the game. PIRATES HEAD SOUTH

Solway Stingrays v1.4

Paisley Pirates head south on the A74 this Sunday to take on Solway Stingrays in the return of the league match at Braehead Arena in November when the Renfrewshire side recorded a big win, but Head Coach Ian Turley is taking nothing for granted.   “Yes, we beat them comfortably at Braehead earlier in the season,“ he said, “but what you tend to find with new teams is that they improve very quickly as they get more games together, and I’ve no doubt that’s what we’ll find when we line up against them at the Dumfries Ice Bowl this Sunday …

LYNX FIRST FOOT PIRATES

Paisley Pirates’ Head Coach Ian Turley was far from despondent when he looked back at his side’s narrow 3-2 reverse at Kirkcaldy in their last match of 2017, before looking ahead to another tough clash at home this Saturday, 6 January, when they lock horns with Aberdeen Lynx, the only other side to lower their colours so far this season.   He commented, “We played well at times against the league leaders in their own rink, and I thought we simply didn’t carry the kind of luck you need when you play them in Fife to come away with the …

MEECHIE JOINS ELITE!

Paisley Pirates received a welcome boost at the end of the old year as netminder Graeme Meechan was called up by the Elite League side Edinburgh Capitals to provide cover for them when they took on the Belfast Giants on the last Friday of 2017.   “It’s not uncommon for an Elite League side to look for cover if one of their regular netminders picks up a knock, or takes ill, or, in fact is going to miss out on a match for any reason at all,” said Head Coach Ian Turley. “In this instance, as we always are, we …
