PIRATES GEL TOGETHER

Paisley Pirates Head Coach Ian Turley was happy with his team’s performance at the weekend, when the side took a maximum four points from their two matches at Kilmarnock Thunder and at home to Edinburgh Capitals on the Sunday.   “I don’t think we managed a four point weekend all of last season, when we won the Scottish National League, so Adam and myself are pleased that we managed to get through both matches, perform well, and score a few goals in the process,” he commented. “The team has come together very nicely, considering the fact that there were a …

CAPITAL SHOW BY PIRATES

PIRATES 7   EDINBURGH CAPITALS 2   Pirates overwhelmed the visitors tonight with a fast, free flowing display which their opponents were unable to match and in doing so took the two points with some ease. They were two goals ahead inside the opening five minutes and, in spite of being unable to add to their total in the remainder of the period, continued to press an overworked Caps defence who had netminder Mallinson to thank for a great display that kept the score within manageable proportions at the end of the first twenty minutes. The home side continued to press …

PIRATES STEAL KILLIE’S THUNDER

Pirates made it 28 goals in two games as they swept aside Kilmarnock Thunder at the Gallean Ice Rink on Saturday night to record a 10-0 whitewash. The visitors were ahead after only 41 seconds, and with their lead being doubled with less than three minutes on the clock, it looked as if Anderson in the home goal was in for a busy night, and so it proved, facing a total of 79 shots over the 60 minutes, while Graeme Meechan in the opposite goal had a 14 shot shut out. Pirates were seldom troubled and enjoyed a comfortable night …

Paisley Pirates have embraced the spirit of Christmas in a big way by announcing a special cut price deal for local groups and organisations who apply for a special discounted deal which will be valid for their home games at Braehead Arena on Sunday 10 and 17 respectively.   “We know it’s a special time of year for most folk, but we also know it can be a difficult time as there’s not a lot of money around these days for the wee special things that can make all the difference at Christmas, and not all local groups have the …

Paisley Pirates showed some early Christmas spirit to help out Braehead Clan when the latter found themselves short of a goalkeeper for an important Elite League match at Milton Keynes at the weekend-and helped form a unique double act on the latter’s bench in the process.   Pirates Head Coach Ian Turley explained, “We learned that the Clan were going to be short of their number one netminder for the game, and while we also had a game on that Sunday night, we were happy to let them borrow John Russell, our recent signing, for the evening, on a two …

PIRATES FACE BUSY WEEKEND

Paisley Pirates face a testing weekend, having two matches within 24 hours as they first travel to Kilmarnock on Saturday to take on the local Thunder, before returning to Braehead Arena for a difficult looking fixture against Edinburgh Capitals on Sunday (face off 6.00pm).   The club is looking to record two wins to continue their climb up the league table after a delayed start, and Head Coach Ian Turley has no illusions about the difficulty presented by the two matches. “Kilmarnock is always a rink we travel to with a little trepidation,” he commented. “as it’s it’s not an …

PIRATES STING RAYS

Pirates wrote themselves into the club’s history books as they racked up an 18-1 victory over a plucky Solway Stingrays side on Sunday evening, their biggest ever win at the Braehead Arena during their 12 year stay there.   No fewer than twelve players featured on the scoresheet and but for heroics by Stingrays’ netminder Dolan during a tight second period, Pirates may have rattled up an even bigger scoreline.   With a tough match in prospect against the Edinburgh Capitals next Sunday, 25 November (face off 6.00pm), and a visit to Kilmarnock the previous night, Pirates took the opportunity …
